The Twelve Days of Christmas

The Christmas season is among us. The time of joy and cheer. The season of happiness and fun. The time to spend time together just because you can. To sit and enjoy hot cocoa and classic holiday movies by a nice warm fire. When you curl up on a cold night with a book and enjoy the feeling of the season. When we put up our tree it was just the beginning of the wonderful feeling in our home. And when I walked in the next night and the tree was decorated and the stocking hung I knew it really was christmas time. All the show are playing there christmas episodes and the magic is welling within them all. But don't forget why we truly celebrate and the blessing that the Savior is to all of us. Don't let yourself feel alone because you aren't. Remember through all the hustle and bustle what Christ mas is all about. Happy Christmas Everyone!

Ring that Bell

For three years I worked at a grocery store and each year at christmas each time the door opened I'd hear the faint clang clang of the salvation army bell ringer. I grew to hate that bell. I would go in back doors or walk out of my way just to stay away from that bell.
However this year after moving on to a new job and getting away from the bell my oh so sweet friend decided she wanted to sign us up to ring the bell outside of the same grocery store chain I use to work for. I was not excited but I couldn't let her down so I sucked it up and joined her for the two hour shift. Those who know me know that I like to have fun and I try to make any situation fun and exciting so I went in with a good attitude and came out more engrized then when I went in. We danced and sang and received so many donations. We brought the christmas spirit to so many people.

'Tis the Season

I have been running around the past couple weeks in order to get a nativity performance together and finally it was time for the production to happen. With everyone scrambling to get ready and making sure we had everything we went on. And it was amazing. The choir sounded beautiful and the 'actors' played their parts just wonderfully! Afterward to celebrate a job well done I went to a party and danced the night away! Success is beautiful!

Turducken

What better to celebrate thanksgiving with than a Turkey a Duck and a Chicken. So we made Turducken. And in order to do that we had to take these animals and de-bone them. Thats right remove all the bones, then slap some stuffing in betweenthem and put them all together. Oh boy was it awesome. We plugger tied it all together and roasted it. What a delicious thanksgiving meal!

What are you Thankful for?

In this time of Thanksgiving and wish to express so of the many things I am grateful for.
First I am thankful for my family and all the joy that they bring to me.
I am also thankful for my friends, the ones that will always be there no matter what stupid things I do.
And most importantly I am grateful for Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost so that I may have all the wonderful things previously stated.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Alisa Week!

I always manage to wear myself out at halloween. Fortunately my job ended about the same time all the celebrating did too so I decided to take a week off and just focus on me.
I also began to realize that I was getting into a pattern of life and just going through the motions and I was not happy about it. I want to be better. So I started going to bed earlier, exercising, and eating better. Although I am not where I want to be I am on the right path and I know that I am much happier then I was before. Soon I will be heading back to school and I WILL keep up the good habits I have established and I will be filled with joy and happiness.

Zombie Prom

What better way to celebrate halloween then going to prom!?! Oh and we celebrated! But this was not just any prom. Almost everyone at this prom was dead and most were unrecognizable. This prom was a Zombie Prom. And as we danced to the creepy music we munched on such things at eyeballs and brains. (aka candy and jello) We also met all kinds of people including creepy Siamese twins, dead doctors and bloody patients and of course Dracula. Zombie Prom 2010... huge success!! Can't wait till next year, we're thinking CLUE.

My Blood

After spending the day with a 2 year old I went to donate blood. I got there at 5:40 got checked in about 6; sat down to answer questions at 6:10 that took maybe 5 min. As the nurse attempted to print my answers something went wrong so I waited again as the nurses went around trying to figure out why my information was no longeravailable. Shortly after 7 I sat in the chair to get stuck with a needle and give away a pint of my blood. The nurse pumped up the blood pressure cup and tried locating my vain. I could tell she was unsure about it, I offered my other arm but she had non of it. She marked the spot and insurted the needle... Never has anyone had a problem getting my vain. oh the pain, I could feel the tears trying to escape out of cornors of my eyes. She stopped, relieved the pressure found the vain again and pumped the cup up again and wiggled the needle in my arm once again, no luck. Hello Can I get a destraction please??? After two attempts another nurse was called over. She found the vain and insurted the needle no problem. Thank goodness!!! I hurt and really don't want a big bruse!! Ya know what Iin a few days Ill be fine and have the knowledge that I helped save a life!!!

Bloody Nose

1:15 in the morning. so tired. wiping my makeup off. Look up and my nose is leaking blood!! Are you freakin kidding me. Quickly I catch the blood using my wipe and grab some TP. As I sit and calm myself while pinching my nose I realize that it not just from one nostril but both are going at it. This is the biggest and possibly the worst nose bleed I've ever had. Its all over my hands all over the toilet paper and probably all over my face. I just wanted to come home and go to bed.

PS I want to thank Carly White for teaching me the best way to clot nose bleeds!!

Dear John Reply

I have recieved my very first response to a Dear John letter. It was almost as amazing as the letter I sent. In the letter my dear missionary reminded me of all the times he stayed by my side through hard times including the many plastic surgeries I undertook to make myself look so beautiful. He mentioned how any other guy would only be seeing my outer beauty where as he saw my inter beauty. And how I would always be his hump back club foot ugly beauty. I have never laughed so hard! I do hope that all responses are as creative as his.

Dead Air

One of the worst things you could ever have on the radio is nothing at all. Dead air when nothing is playing over the radio waves. When you have dead air it makes you look like a moron who doesn't have a clue what is going on in the studio you are suppose to be running. On Friday night the 17th of September I relayed my first live football game and because I couldn't remember anything I had been shown the first ten minutes of the broadcast was not relayed. The phone was ringing off the hook. I took me a whole quarter and a half before I fixed everything that was going wrong. After that everything went smoothly and I finished the night at ten after an awesome game. Sometimes pushing a button is harder then it sounds!

Dear John

I just wrote my very first 'Dear John' letter. You think it would be a sad thing butthis wasn't. Iwrote this letter to a missionary that is/was serving in my ward here at home. He is being transfered tomorrow and wanted a dear john letter so I told him I would write him one and it turned out pretty good. Although his parting will be sad I know that leavingwith an awesome letter from me will help to make it a little easier!!This letter will not be the only dear john letter I will be writing. I promised two other friends that I would write one to them while they are gone!I love making people happy!
To read the letter check out my Works of Art page.

Gum Picnic!

Every labor day the Fosters get together and have a picnic. Sounds normal, well for those of you that know us, any of us, you know that our picnics are not normal for instance this picnic is called a gum picnic. Why? Well one day on labor day my Aunts decided they wanted to have a get together/picnic. Well it so happened that no one really brought food so one of them piped up, 'I have a pack of gum in my car.' And that friends was the beginning of the Foster's annual gum picnic on labor day!
Now we all bring food and of course a package of some sort of gum. This year my Mom took zebra gum and raspberry cube gum. And me and my Dad made a gum cake. (pictured) This cake was not made out of gum nor did is taste like gum is only looked like it. Everyone was so excited when they saw it saying that is was one of the coolest things they have seen. I tried not to let my head get to big but I sure was proud!!! I suppose now I have to make it every year.

Me and my Truck

Today I ventured out in my truck and got me a job. My older brother Matt interned at a local radio station last summer and they liked him so much that they hired him. He only worked a few hours a week and he managed to present me with a job opening. I went down to the station and said my name and shook a few hands and the next thing I know I have a job. I will be broadcasting the football games for a small high school here in Cedar Rapids Iowa. I will work every Friday night from 7 to about 10 PM till the end of football season. I am a little nervous as everyone probably is when starting a new job but I know I will have fun because I can kinda do what ever I want as long as I don't miss my cues. Wish me luck with this new and exciting experience!!

Bridge Jumping

About 1:30 the afternoon of July 5th 2010 I was invited to go with a small group of people to a bridge and jump. Heres the thing. Jumping off a bridge is not on my bucket list. I don't even have a bucket list. However after a few minutes of persuasion and reassuring that I wouldn't even have to jump I consented to go out to an unknown destination and sit in the sun. As I sat in the sun and watched a few people jump 15 feet into the water I decided to get up and jump. It didn't look so bad and I wasn't really scared so I stood up on the lower rung of the bridge and jumped. I jumped of a bridge!!!

Coeur d'Alene Idaho

Being in school for and extended period of six months with only a week break can really eat at your nerves. All the stress was getting to us. We needed to get away. Forth of July weekend, what should we do? At first is was just one of those suggestion that you throw out just to keep the ideas flowing but then it really happened. Carly and I were going to a spa. Yup a real live spa. In Coeur d'Alene Idaho. Oh yeah it was really fancy. We left yesterday (july 2nd) around noon. The drive was crazy. We were jammin' out to all kinds of songs. Dancing and laughing and having a great time. We drove all afternoon and arrived at the amazing Coeur d'Alene spa and resort. It was like driving into a small village with its court yard that surround the giant castle. We were on vacation! We left all our cares and worries at the door. No thinking about anything. No school work, no boys, nothing this was about us! We wandered around the lake that evening, so beautiful, I couldn't take it all in. And the beds! The Best! Ya'll know that I can sleep anywhere anytime but this was something else! As soon as my head hit that pillow I was gone; sound asleep until the next morning.
Oh Saturday morning, SPA TIME!!! Massages and facials!! WOW!!! Words can't describe.
We left that afternoon. I slept most of the ride back, good thing I was getting cranky to much travel. We stopped that night in Idaho Falls to meet some friends and watch the fireworks. And sat in the car watching a movie while traffic died down arriving home at 1:30 in the morning.
The sad endings to a beautiful getaway!

Summer Solstice 2010

Monday June 21st 2010 the first day of summer. In honor of this momentous occasion a group of us headed out to create a monstrous bonfire. After traveling for a good amount of time listening to a CD that skipped from even the slightest bump and turning around three times we met up with the rest of the crew and caravanned to a clearing where a wooden ti-pi sat waiting for the addition of more wood. Applying a fair amount of girl scout water and the lit strings of a mop we had a blazing fire. That is when we busted out the 'mallows and starburst and started roasting. The bang of a drum started us chanting and dancing around the blaze of fire. But a true summer celebration wouldn't be complete without a lake. Running down to the dock we stood in the cool water as the moonlight glistened off the surface of the still lake. The beautiful beginning to a beautiful summer.

It Burns!!!

Friday was a beautiful day and I just so happen to be done with class early so I decided that it was necessary to lay out in the sun. After eating a bit of lunch and grabbing a book I spread my blanket and began to read. Perhaps ten minutes into my lazy day reading my eyelids began to droop. I curled my arms up and I'll just rest my eyes for a bit, ha RIGHT! I woke up half an hour later with sore elbows and sun beaten legs. Great! But that wasn't it. I knew that I needed to go inside so that I didn't get really burnt but I just couldn't stay inside so I went out again...the next day I couldn't move! My legs were burnt my chest was burnt, my arms were burnt. Even my neck was burnt. Oh the Joys of summer.

The Box

My roommate just opened a package she received from her mother. These moments are always so fun. Mom sends us very exciting things. In this package we were endowed with some random shirts, delicious smelling hand soap, a book with 200 recipes under 200 calories and a bubble sword. In the words of Becca this book is "everything from...I can't read that...everything from rockin' broccoli to mm mm golash." And of course as Carly played with the bubble sword she asked the question that all of us have wondered at some point in time... "Why doesn't Starwars have more bubbles?" The response she received was 'maybe they didn't have bubbles in 1973.'

In the Beginning
